The Meaning of 'Katpaga'
Accoding to the Puranas 'Katpaga' refers to a tree where Lord Siva obtained enlightenment. The cow
that fulfills wishes (kamadhenu), was also refferred to as 'Katpaga' by the sagas in the
ramayana. Therefore, the word 'Katpaga' derives its meaning form the tree and cow that fulfillswishes. When
we worship Lord Vinayagar, we are worshiping Lord Vinaygar as well as Lord Shiva because Lord Vinayagar holds a
Shivalingga in His right hand. Lord Vinayagar is the remover of obstacles while Lora Shiva is the giver of enlightenment.
